There's a lot even a 5 minute short can reveal. It showcases the atmosphere of the game, allows a preview of characters and a peek into the storyline.
One particularly good trailer I enjoy watching is the one for Hellgate: London. It was actually Rez who got me interested the game, as he had downloaded the demo and is currently playing it. According to him, it's tons of fun.
It's an action RPG set in London in 2038. The gates of hell have opened, spilling hordes of demons into our world. Nation after nation has fallen, and London has been left in ruins, its inhabitants having been either consumed, slain or transformed into mindless zombies. So begins the decades-long Burn, or the process of hell-forming, to transform the once great city into a literal hell on Earth.

The remaining survivors are restricted to the London Underground, whose blessed walls built by the Freemasons keep the demons at bay. These safe zones are guarded by the Templars, descendants of the Knights Templar of old. They battle the demons with weapons that fuse arcane magic with modern techology, and hope to restore mankind to its former glory.
You can either play as a Templar, a Cabalist or a Hunter. Each faction is more or less equally strong, with the only major differences being fighting style and weaponry. Templars are traditional warriors, who wield blades, guns and shields. Cabalists are more like warlocks and mages, and use either the elements or demonic minions to fight. As for Hunters, they are mostly snipers and marksmen who work well with guns and other modern weapons.
To progress, it works like an MMPORG that requires gaining experience and levelling. You start off at level 1 and increase from there. At higher levels, your character becomes more powerful and can equip better weapons and armour. Levelling is mainly through performing quests or slaying certain demons for more powerful item drops and additional experience.
Wonder if it's worth all the hype... Maybe I should go try out the demo. =D
As for the trailer, you can watch it on Youtube here.
